Sebastian Gräßl’s Bio:

I grew up in beatiful Austria, near the Border to Slovenia. I’m born in the city Graz, the capital of Styria, 20 years ago. With ten i got my first computer, a C64, a bit too late for a C64, but it was a computer and i began to develop little basic applications. I got more and more interessted in everything around computers, programming, grahpics and design. Two years after i got my C64, i got a Pentium with about 200Mhz, i guess, it’s long time ago. But it helped me to begin web development and designing. One day one of my classmates invited my to help him cutting a movie. And i went into this room and there were only computers with a apple on it, and since this time i’m addicted to apple or a windows free envirnoment(only for testing). This classmate also caused that i got more interessted in arts, what was very good, because it invluenced also my designing passion, i got better and better, i think. About six years ago i started to publish my websites on geocities and so on. Then i had the chance to administrate the website www.avmureck.at, which was at this time very static, i guess the only thing dynamic was the guestbook. So the next step was to learn a programming language to do dynamic websites, i want trough Java a bit, i tried Python but then i decided to take the “quick and dirty” way… PHP, which wasn’t bad. But from time to time, i wanted elegant code, which wasn’t possible in PHP. One year ago i quit school and started to work as freelancer for several web design and development companies, then i founded my own company, called Validcode, but i faild. :( While i developed www.gpticketshop.com one year ago, a friend said to me, “hey, have you heard of Ruby on Rails… Ruby should bring back the joy of programming…”, and this was what i searched for elegant code…, but i had to finish the ticketshop, which has many of this little helpers that Rails has. Last summer i began to explore Rails and Ruby.
